This week is very important! Friday is the first district designed proficiency test. It will consist of multiple choice and extended response questions.
Monday, students will finish the foldable review from last week. They will use their foldable on a "quiz" as proof that they included all required components on the foldable. Tuesday, the students will analyze their diagnostic and complete a SPA review sheet. Wednesday, the students will answer a practice extended response question. They will peer review each other to see examples of high quality work. Thursday, the students will play a review game to practice for the multiple choice portion. Friday, the students will have the entire period to work on the proficiency. What can your child do at home? They can study the SPA Review Sheet, Extended Response Practice Sheet, and printout of the Multiple Choice game. Homework:

Students will begin the week working in groups at 8 different stations reviewing the concepts learned since the start of the year! They will also create 2 foldables - one on astronomy and one on motion - which summarizes all the content learned in a creative way.
Students will also be taking their first district designed diagnostic. This does not count as an accuracy grade but rather shows both me and the students what material they have not mastered. Next week, I will plan my lessons accordingly to reteach missed material prior to the district proficiency. Homework: Monday: worksheet Tuesday: worksheet Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: none I hope everyone is well rested after their long weekend! The students have finished learning new material about Earth's Place in the Universe! This week, I am going to go back and reteach content that students were confused about or missed on quizzes. Wednesday, the students will be completing a notebook quiz. Rather than grade the notebooks daily, I give a quiz at the end of each unit in which they look up the answers in the notebook. This makes them accountable for making sure they are always on task in class! Thursday and Friday, the students will be working on a variety of task cards in groups to review material. There is no homework this week - lucky kids! This week, the students are going to investigate the tools that are used to explore outer space! They are also going to discuss how the solar system was formed. By the end of the week, they will better understand the difference between our solar system, galaxy, and the universe! Homework: Monday: worksheet Tuesday: worksheet Wednesday, Thursday: none The students are going to create scale models of the solar system and explore not only the size of the objects, but also the distance between them. Students will also be looking at other objects in the solar system such as comets, meteors, and asteroids. Lastly, the students will explore gravity, how it affects weight, what determines the size of the gravitational pull, and how gravity causes objects to orbit. Homework:
