This week is all about preparing for the second proficiency! Monday, the students will practice completing an Extended Response Question. Tuesday, they will play a review game to prepare for the multiple choice portion. Wednesday is the field trip. Thursday will be the proficiency! It is essential that students study both the extended response practice and the multiple choice portion. They will be asking you to sign a sheet confirming that they studied. Please encourage them to actively study - rewrite problems, make flashcards, teach you the concept, etc. Simply staring at the sheet in front of them may not be their ideal method!
Friday, the students will completing a writing piece about theplay. There will be no homework over the holiday break. Enjoy the time with family and friends! Next up...chemistry! Homework:

Students will take their notebook quiz on Monday. They use their notebook for the entire quiz (so there is no need to study!). Since I don't grade their notebook on a daily basis, this a great way to assess that they are completing everything in it. I do one notebook quiz at the end of each unit.
Students will then compare fast and slow changes to earth, as well as big and small changes. The diagram below gives some great examples! Students will have a quiz on this material as well as the rock cycle on Thursday. As always, they will have a study guide on Wednesday night! Friday, the students will analyze their diagnostic and identify their misconceptions now, before the proficiency. We will work on relearning missed material the following week, prior to the proficiency! Homework
I combined the two weeks in to one post. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoys their time with family and friends!
Students will first be exploring real life examples of weathering and erosion. We are doing a lab in a few weeks in which students model the three types of plate boundaries using FUN SIZE (not mini) Milky Way bars. Each student needs three candy bars....which is where your help is needed! Any student who brings in a bag of fun size Milky Way Candy bars earns a free homework pass. It's no rush, I just need them by next Friday, November 11th. Thank you for your support!
