Students will be exploring surface area this week. I've included an example below! Making nets helps them to visualize the surface area. They will have a study guide on Wednesday night to prepare for Thursday's quiz. Homework:

The remainder of the week, students will be finding the volume of 3-d shapes, particularly rectangular prisms. I have included a sample below! This is a new skill so we will be practicing all week. Homework

Tuesday, students will receive their proficiency back. We will analyze our scores and relearn any missed concepts! Wednesday to Friday, students will practice finding the area and perimeter of irregular figures, such as shown below. They will also apply the concept of area and perimeter to story problems and real life problems. Homework:
Note...if the field trip is approved for Friday, there will be no Thursday night homework!
Students will get progress reports on Wednesday. However, infinite campus is always updated and can be checked anytime! Tuesday is the third proficiency test! Students will complete a study guide in class on Monday. They will need to study Monday night, and they will ask you to sign a confirmation sheet. It is essential that they are studying in an area free of distractions...not playing on their phones....and not staring off in to space. They have the tools to be distinguished - they just need to do their part and study! Wednesday, we will begin the geometry unit. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we will review the types of polygons and how to calculate area and perimeter. We will move quickly as this skill was already taught in elementary school. Homework
