May 16 is the last Proficiency Assessment of the year! Students will have a study guide on Monday, the assessment will be Tuesday. It is imperative that they study and prepare! Rather than earn a distinguished/proficient/apprentice/novice score, they will earn a traditional percentage score. This is the last "Big" grade of the year. Wednesday and Friday (Thursday is the field trip), the students will be creating a Tiny House to apply the concepts learned in geometry.
Homework for Week of May 15: Monday: Study Tuesday to Friday: None On Monday, May 22, the students will be finishing their Tiny House Project. Tuesday and Wednesday, the students will be taking the final exam. There is no study guide for this - I want it to be a true reflection of what they have learned and mastered. This serves as a helpful tool for myself in reflecting on what I taught well, and what I need to improve upon myself. Final exams will not hurt student grades. Homework for Week of May 22: Monday to Friday: None

Students will work in groups to complete stations in which they practice different data analysis skills.
On Friday, the students will take the placement test to see if they qualify for accelerated math in 7th grade. The test is a 60 minute no calculator test given to the entire 6th grade. Any questions can be directed to the counselor. They do not need to do anything to prepare - just come to school well rested! Homework: There is no homework this week. I want to keep the students' stress levels to a minimum! Please encourage them to get to bed early each night, eat a healthy breakfast, and send them to school on a positive note! |
